International Projects

We've been working in Zambia on this project for a mining company.  The mining compnay wanted to provide accommodation for the workers to sleep on site rather than having to travel several miles to the nearest town.

Completed Projects

View from upstairs.
We had a phone call yesterday from the client for whom we built this house back in November 2010.  They said that they look set to move in in a month's time!

It's fantastic to hear that their new home is almost ready to live in, and we look forward to taking them up on their offer to visit and take photographs once they are all settled in.

Completed SIPs kit in November 2010.

Barn Conversion

This ariel photograph shows a barn conversion done with SIPs in the Scottish Borders.  We provided the SIPs kit for the project a year ago.

More photographs of the SIPs kit during installation can be found on our website.

From the Archives

Another one from the archives today.  SIPs Industries provided the kit for this project in Nottinghamshire in 2008.  More images are under the cut.

Oak Frame

We've just completed the kit for this Oak Frame on Jersey.

The Oak Frame was installed before the SIPs Industries team arrived on site.

The SIPs panels are used as external cladding for the Oak Frame.

The project went very smoothly - we had anticipated a full two weeks on site and the team were home within that time.

Shows!

We will be exhibiting at the Border Union Agricultural Society Show on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th July.  The show is held at Springwood Park, Kelso.

This will be SIPS Industries first open air show - we are usually protected from the elements in the confines of an exhibition centre!  We are re-using the stand from the Homebuilding and Renovating Show at the SECC - which has a roof! - and are keeping our fingers crossed for good weather!

You can find a map of the venue here http://www.buas.org/map/.

We don't have tickets to give away for this one, but we do hope to see you there.

Curved Walls

The curved wall for this block of flats in West Sussex was achieved by using short widths of panel, rather than a single panel.
As can be seen, the non-structural internal walls were made from timber stud rather than SIPs.

The apartments won the Building for Life Silver Standard Award in 2008.  There are images of the completed project on the architects website.

SIPs Panels

Blank panels in the SIPS Industries factory.

SIPs Industries panels are manufactured in our factory in Dalgety Bay.  These blank panels will be cut to shape for a specific project.

Each SIPs Industries project is unique, with the the panels manufactured and cut according to factory drawings provided by the SIPS Industries drawing team, which are designed based on drawings provided by the clients and their architect.

Modular Buildings

SIPs Industries frequently supply the panels for modular buildings, such as this toilet block in a forest car park.  The plumbing and foundations were prepared in advance of the building arriving on site

The panels were manufactured in the SIPs Industries factory according to the architects drawings.  The panels were then transported to the clients factory where they were assembled into the toilet block which was transported to site in a single unit.

The sink, toilet and pipes for the plumbing had also been installed in the factory, and just needed to be connected once the building was in place.  This cut down on not only the volume of traffic to the site, but also the time spent on site compared to using more traditional build methods.

From the Archives

This is the 100th post on this blog!  Another project from the archives today.

We provided the kit for this project for Allan Murray Architects in 2009.  The contemporary flat roofed design is a replacement for a poorly insulated bungalow which had been constructed from prefabricated concrete panels.  The contemporary style of the building both contrasts and compliments the traditional style of neighbouring Victorian buildings.

By using SIPs Industries panels, the clients were able to achieve the roof spans necessary for the large living areas, particularly on the ground floor.  The combination of SIPs Industries panels with highly efficient door and windows, the clients were able to achieve an overall U-value of 0.15W/m2kg for the final build.

The project was shortlisted for a RIBA award in 2010.  The project is also featured in several online articles.
